The location of the neighborhoods of Belcaro and Cory-Merrill in south Denver provide residents with easy access to downtown Denver. Belcaro is a lovely upscale neighborhood of ranch-style single-family homes and estates set on large lots on winding streets. The 54-room Georgian-style, grand Phipps Mansion was built here in 1932 by Lawrence C. Phipps, treasurer of Carnegie Steel and a Colorado Senator. The mansion is currently owned by the University of Denver and is used as a conference center and museum. Belcaro, which means “beautiful dear one” in Italian, was named by Phipps. South of Belcaro is the neighborhood of Bonnie Brae, which features neighborhoods with curved, tree-lined streets and an intimately Scottish village feel.

Cory-Merrill is an idyllic and upscale neighborhood with large lots and wide streets. Belcaro and Cory-Merrill are adjacent to Washington Park, which features a lake, basketball court, recreation center, athletic fields, tennis courts, playgrounds and plenty of open space. Cherry Creek Shopping Center and Bonnie Brae Village are just north of Belcaro and Cory-Merrill, offering excellent shopping and dining. Between Belcaro and Cory-Merrill is Old South Gaylord with over 60 shops, services, and restaurants.

Belcaro and Cory-Merrill residents have easy access to downtown Denver and all its wonderful big-city amenities. There are historic buildings, museums, art districts, parks and great shopping areas. The Colorado State Capitol is located downtown in the neighborhood of Capitol Hill. The US Mint, Denver Art Museum and Byers-Evans House—built in 1883—are here as is the Denver Convention Center, Denver Performing Arts Center, Trianon Museum and Art Gallery along with the pedestrian-only 16th Street Mall.
